Q Mark awards September 2019

Team from Carrigoran House wins at gala event in Dublin

There were smiles all around for the winning team from Carrigoran House in County Clare  at The Clayton Hotel on Dublin’s Burlington Road on Friday, September 27th, where the National Q Mark Awards ceremony took place.

The Q Mark is the highest accolade an Irish business can achieve, and the gala event was a chance for all those nominated to celebrate the high standards they’d earned in rigorous audits by EIQA, the proud guardians of the Q Mark suite of Quality standards. To achieve a nomination, each enterprise had to earn a place in the top 6 per cent of the audits carried out across the island of Ireland.

Carrigoran House has been providing quality driven, person-centered care to older people since 1974 when it was established by The Sisters of Charity of The Incarnate Word.

Despite the fact that they’re new to the Q Mark process, Carrigoran House managed to take home the 2019 Q Mark for Nursing Homes, sponsored this year by BlackBee. Awarding them the title, MD of EIQA Irene Collins said: “Valerie and the team in Carrigoran House have some fantastic news to share with the residents and their families. This win is testament to the team’s efforts to provide a service level and quality of care standard that can be measured and audited easily, whilst having the capability to introduce new policies, practices and procedures more effectively. Congratulations to everyone involved”.

CEO of Carrigoran House Valerie Vaughan was thrilled: “Every staff member, volunteer, resident and sister advocate should be so proud of this achievement and rightly so as they own it. Carrigoran House has been delivering quality care since the early 1970’s and has been continually evolving since that time into the care centre that it is today. Winning this award reinforces all we do and our commitment to ensuring we provide the best care possible that is underpinned by quality. We will continue to use every opportunity for improvement to provide a consistent quality service to our community of residents and their families.”
